  • Student Literacy And Media (SLAM)

SLAM is a reading program for all Hillsborough County K-12 students which celebrates and promotes reading books nominated for state awards.

Students are encouraged to read Florida Award Nominated books and respond to them through artistic expression. Lutz K8 will hold a SLAM Showcase the week of March 1st to celebrate student reading and work.  A county-level celebration, to be held virtually on April 8th, will showcase the best examples of the student responses.

    Two Ways to enter:

    1. Video Creative Expression

Students may work together or individually to create a 1-minute video book trailer for one or more of the books on the Florida Award Nominated Book Lists.  Students will use images, video, narration and audio features to entice other to read the book!

    2. 2D & 3D Creative Expression

Individual students create a drawing, painting, collage, photograph, digital media or other 2D and 3D pieces as an expression of one of the books.  Student work will be displayed.

Students will also share their inspiration with a short Reader’s Statement which explains a connection between the book and the student work. All projects are due February 24thSLAM Flyer
